Hi! My name is Kirsty.
Wow, what an honour to be asked by Kat to contribute as a star. If you told me that this was going to happen a year ago I would have laughed at the unthinkable.
I think in life you know in your heart when you are ready to commit to something and put everything you have into it.
The start of 2018 was a new chapter for us as we started the “empty nesting” process. Now that “my babies” have grown up, I have way more time for myself.
A Stellar Fitness advert popped up on my Facebook newsfeed in February and I immediately knew a Transformation Challenge was something that I could have a go at. I was at my heaviest and looking for new goals and activities.
It is such a scary thing walking into a school hall to sign up and seeing 50+ women all chattering away and not knowing anyone, but from that very first class Kat made me feel very welcome and I was hooked on those Circuit, Boxing and Fight-fit classes.
Going into the Transformation Challenge I didn’t know what to expect but I have pleasantly surprised myself. Who knew that I could lift weights, spit out burpees and "squat like Sally" for 3 minutes solid.
I have enjoyed feeling so much fitter and healthier, I watch what I eat, cutting out a lot of sugar, the headaches I often had have mostly gone and I am sleeping better. I have set myself small goals at a time which are easier to achieve than a large goal.
This year I have completed two Transformation challenges plus a Fitness challenge and I have slowly lost a total of nearly 12kgs over 9 months which is an amazing feeling. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to get so fit and shed so much this year. It is a thrilling experience to stand in a changing room and try not to let out an excited yelp as I tried on two dress sizes smaller!!
This year my husband and I have started enjoying lots of walks & hiking in the week-ends around the Wellington hills, and I have actually enjoyed conquering Mt Kaukau again – I used to hate that hill as I’d get such jelly legs. Well, no longer thanks to all Kat’s squats.
Those are the personal achievements, but I have also loved meeting so many wonderful women at Stellar Fitness who all just want to keep fit and healthy and who all inspire me.
A big thank you to Kat for all the extras you provide during the challenges from motivation, food recommendations, feedback, side challenges and for the private facebook groups which has been a lovely way to get to know others.
Merry Christmas everyone.
